We all want to protect our boats from fouling, right? But we also know that the anti-fouling paints we use are not good for marine life. Every year, tons of anti-fouling paint end up in our oceans and waterways, killing marine life. Yachtwrap fouling protection and release foil offers an environmentally friendly solution – protecting your hull from fouling and saving you fuel.
We all have a responsibility to preserve our planet. Protect your boat without using toxic paints: use Yachtwrap!
Why do we use antifouling?
The most common maintenance carried out with paint is the application of antifouling. This is necessary for perfect sailing as it’s more difficult to keep the hull clean once fouling begins. Fouling will lead to loss of speed, increased fuel consumption, damage to the paint system, blocking of water pipelines, and a degradation in the overall look of your boat.
The basic purposes of the antifouling are:
- prevent or reduce any animal or algae fouling;
- secure minimal friction and maximize speed and performance;
- reduce fuel consumption by reducing friction; and
- avoid fouling penetrating the paint, thus improving protection of the hull.
By securing a clean hull throughout the season, the fuel consumption of your boat can be reduced along with its CO2-emissions.
